Buffalo Sabres – Los Angeles Kings: Your Picks

What’s going on, Buffalo Sabres fans!!!!!!!!!

It’s game day in Hockey Heaven, as the Sabres are preparing to extract a little bit of revenge on the Los Angeles Kings tonight.  You see, last Thursday the Sabres had one of their best efforts of the season, thoroughly outplaying the Kings (in my opinion) in an 0-2 loss that Buffalo didn’t earn, but nevertheless received due to the highway robbery of Jonathan Quick.

I was hoping that this “Loss That Should Have Been a Win” would have inspired the Sabres to come out guns-a-blazing the following night in Anaheim . . . but we’ll just stop right there lest I go into Hulk Smash mode.  Instead, we’ll hope that the two losses the Sabres suffered last Friday and Saturday have humbled and motivated them to come out and win their first home victory tonight against LA.

So far, the First Niagara Center has not been kind to the Sabres, probably because the home town fans have picked up where they left off last season, booing unacceptable play and chanting “Fire Darcy” every chance they get.  I understand the fans’ frustration, but at the same time such a hostile environment is probably a huge part of the reason the Sabres have played noticeably better on the road than at the First Niagara Center.  Your home crowd is SUPPOSED to be hostile – but usually towards the opponents, not the home team!  I’m hoping the Buffalo faithful come out to support the young players who have been performing admirably under some less-than-desirable circumstances so far this season.

Let’s be honest, though, everyone: as much fun as it has been to watch the rookies, the REAL reason to tune in tonight is to watch Jonathan Quick duel with Sabres’ goaltender Ryan Miller.  This is the match-up we wanted last week, the battle between Team USA hopefuls, and while Jhonas Enroth played admirably in LA, Quick vs. Miller is what we all wanted to see.  We’re about to get what we wanted, so sit back and hope for a good one!

Questions to consider:

  1. Who wins “The Duel?”
  2. Will Matt Moulson respond to his ridiculous benching by scoring any points tonight?
  3. What about his other benched-mates, Cody Hodgson and Tyler Ennis?

Let me know what you think, what you hope, or what you know, and go Sabres!

First in! But I did write this so that doesn’t count. I honestly think the Sabres will win this one 3-1. Don’t even bother asking me why, because I have no idea.

Miller comes up big tonight and wins the duel- moulson scores to get back at Rolston

  • Jes

    Sabres win 5-1 tonight.

    1. Miller wins the duel. We chase quick from the net tonight. Defense plays unbelievable tonight. We win the shot on net battle (Y)

    2. Yes, Moulson will get a couple points tonight, no goals though.

    3. Of course if one of either CoHo or Moulson get a point the other ones usually there as well. As for Tyler Ennis? Nope. I believe he’s off that first line. I believe Ott has taken his place today.

    “Who wins “The Duel?””

Dunno. its a 50/50. Considering Quick actually has a team in front of him, odds are in his favor.

“Will Matt Moulson respond to his ridiculous benching by scoring any points tonight?”

Good question. With the Girgs has been playing, I would put Moulson on a line with him and Foligno. What can happen? They will get scored against? Nothing new. Try it out, cant hurt!

“What about his other benched-mates, Cody Hodgson and Tyler Ennis?”

Cody and Tyler who? I havent seen them on the ice lately.. Kinda Sad when McCormic, a guy known for being of the melee variety has as many points as a supposed ‘ top line winger ‘. and is a comparative -2 ( McCormic ) to Tylers -6!

Maybe if Hogdson and Ennis put half the effort of a McCormic or Moulson into their playing, they would be noticeable.

The question that should be asked.. Will Ott show up tonight? If he does, they have a chance ( 55/45 ) of actually pulling off an upset.

Fair enough – I’ll give you your 55/45 if Ott comes to play!

      • Dano

Ott came to play. 10 hits!

Richard I agree for a player to have the home crowd on ur back has to be hard to play in ur home building but with everybody self included so damm frustrated and its plain to see that management doesn’t care about what the fan think so the byproduct of that would be the only thing fans have the boooo birds . Miller with a good defense in front of him is the hands down winner but not with the current state of the team

Oooh, my pick is looking good! I’m one empty-netter away . . .

      And then . . . .

      • Dano

The Kings score and Stafford takes a slashing penalty..

Argh! It’s okay; my pick winds up being pretty damn close. But way to make it interesting, Buffalo. Jeesh.
