This Date In Buffalo Sabres History - November 16

Just a short history lesson on this game day, despite the Buffalo Sabres having played eighteen games on this day throughout their forty-three year

history.

Again it is the French Connection making headlines, or at least one of them.  While yesterday we celebrated the scoring of the Buffalo Sabres 5,000 goal in franchise history – just one day later we are celebrating the teams 1,000th goal.

The stage was the Boston Gardens – and the Boston Bruins were the opponents.  The Bruins prevailed in the match 7-5, as the four year old Buffalo only scored five goals – but the Sabres would go on to face the Philadelphia Flyers for the Stanley Cup that season.  Rick Martin scored the 1,000 goal in club history that night.

As this year’s Buffalo Sabres try to make it three in a row and sweep the Toronto Maple Leafs in a home and home series. history is not on their side.  On November 16 – the Buffalo Sabres have played eighteen games, and are 8-9-1.

With the changes the Sabres are making – there are plenty more chances for them to add to the history of the organization.

Stay tuned for the rest of the game day coverage from the Sabrenoise team as the Sabres faceoff against Toronto again today!
