Buffalo Sabres – Philadelphia Flyers: Fan Chatter

Afternoon, Buffalo Sabres fans, Sabre Noise readers, and anyone else who may have stumbles across this site looking for a row!

It’s game day down in Philadelphia, as the Sabres are getting themselves ready for their first game of the year against the Flyers.   Philadelphia is one of the few teams in the NHL that can relate to what Buffao is going through, as the Flyers saw their coach get the axe only three games into the season.  Unlike the Sabres, however, the Flyers actually had high hopes heading into this season, so the fact that this team is currently sitting on top of just 8 wins – just three more than the rebuilding Sabres – cannot sit well with the Philadelphia faithful.

To which I say, “Boo hoo.”  You won’t get much sympathy from me, Philly fans!

On the Buffalo side of things, the Sabres are still getting used to the style and scheme of interim head coach Ted Nolan.  In addition, Buffalo now must adjust to having some new (old) faces on the ice, as both Luke Adam and Brayden McNabb have been called up from Rochester and will take the ice tonight.  Fans who have been wondering whether these two would ever return to the NHL – myself included, as I have a jersey autographed by both of them! – should be excited to hear that their strong play in Rochester is what prompted Nolan to give them the call.  Could it be that Adam and McNabb are finally ready for prime time?

The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m.tonight.

Now: your food for thought!

1. Matt Moulson and Cody Hodgson have been practically invisible since Nolan came to town.  Call it: which one of them finds the back of the net tonight?

2. Ryan Miller has not recorded a shutout since 2012.  With Philadelphia scoring only 2 goals per game, will Miller blank the Flyers?

3. Call it: of Adam and McNabb, which one gets a point tonight?

Let me hear your chatter folks – this is a winnable game!

I wish I felt good about the possibility of a shutout, but the Flyers have been playing pretty well as of late. I think the Sabres win 4-3 in OT. I do think Moulson scores once; not as confident about Adam or McNabb.

    • Jes

Yup Philly’s been playing pretty well lately, I believe they are 5-3-2 in last 10.

  • Jes

    Sabres win 5-1
    1. CoHo will get a goal tonight
    2. Miller a shutout? Seriously?
    3. McNabb gets a point and a bar jarring hit.

    • Richard Spalding

Hey – I didn’t pick the shutout! But he’s gotta get one again SOMETIME! BTW, I almost filled in your 5-1 pick for you; knew it was coming! lol

      • Jes

Lol thanks Rich you know it’s gonna keep coming until it happens lol. Hmmm wonder if we will score 5 this year? lol

    • Caitlin Campbell

Oh where is your faith in Miller? haha

  • Mark Huss

    Sabres win in OT 5-4

    1. Moulson scores

    2. Obviously by my score Miller will not have a shutout

    3. Luke Adam will get an assist

    • Richard Spalding

“Obviously by my score Miller will not have a shutout”

Thanks for clarifying that, Mark! lol

      • Mark Huss

        Just being thorough!

I hope they stick Myers in front of the Philly net on our PP. Then we can give him our blessing for coughing up the puck. Watch Simmonds tonight in front of Miller on their PP.

I think the Sabres get beat up both on the scoreboard and in the physical aspect. No goalie fights but we dumped Zadorov and Ristolainen two of the more physical d-men and Pysyk is sitting.
I think Adam has a solid game with 2 points proving to new management he belongs and I’m hoping Moulson and Hodgson at least notch a point.
But I think the Sabres lose 5-3

4-1 Philadelphia. Adam will have the lone Sabres goal.

    1. Moulson
    2. No. 4-2 Buffalo
    3. Going out on a limb and saying they both get a point
