What are the odds that the Buffalo Sabres opponent of the day would be on the this day in history assignment as well.

In 2008 former Buffalo Sabres goalie Martin Biron stopped all 40 Buffalo shots as he led his Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-0 shutout.  Here is to hoping that tonight’s Philadelphia Flyers aren’t as defensively on the ball as Buffalo looks to get back on a winning path after dropping Tuesdays game to St. Louis.

This one took place just three months before I was born, but it 1981 Rich Schoenfeld and Yvon Lambert both got a pair of goals and goalie Don Edwards made 28 saves against the Los Angeles Kings as the Sabres routed the Kings 7-1.

The Buffalo Sabres have played 18 games all time on November 21 and are a combined 7-10-1 .

Can Buffalo make more history tonight?  Will their play be so impressive or so down right bad that we look back on today’s game as more than just another chance meeting between the Flyers and Buffalo Sabres?

Steve Ott could net a hat trick to get to 100 goals in his career – he is at 97.  A seven point night would be monumental for the team, and it would also put Cody Hodgson at 100 points on this career.  Sure they are both stretches – but you never know.
