Buffalo Sabres Daily Dasherboard November 28th

Well for starters I’d like to wish a very happy Thanksgiving to all of Buffalo Sabres fans south of the boarder who will be enjoying

turkey, pumpkin pie and some football while they’re granted a day off from watching the Buffalo Sabres. North of the boarder today is just a boring old Thursday as our Thanksgiving was over a month ago. I wish y’all nothing but the best of Thanksgiving spent with family and maybe even friends. Enjoy the holiday!

Now back to the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres fell to the Montreal Canadiens last night and are off for Thanksgiving before taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow. There will be lots of Sabres hockey surrounding Thanksgiving- I’m not sure if that is something to be thankful for or not?

Alexander Steen as been leading the NHL in scoring for a majority of the season as he battles with Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. Steen has had a crazy career bouncing around from team to team but he seems to have finally found a home with the St. Louis Blues. But is Alex Steen the real deal? [Bleacher Report]

Think you’re having a rough time at your job? Rick DiPietro has been released by the Carolina Hurricanes AHL team. Don’t think we’ll be seeing or hearing about DiPietro too much more. [News Day]

In case you didn’t hear Rogers and the NHL struck a deal worth $5.2 billion, yes billion the other day for hockey rights here in Canada. Rogers now technically owns HNIC and Don Cherry is in the last year of his contract with CBC/HNIC. What’s going to happen to the broadcasting legend? [National Post]

The deadline for all Olympic teams to announce their rosters is the first week in January. Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres will find out if the netminder has done enough to earn one of the contested keeper spots with Team USA early in 2014- January 1. [ESPN]

Here’s a 5 step guide to ruining an NHL prospect or in terms every Sabres fan will understand, how the Sabres screwed up Mikhail Grigorenko. [The Hockey Writers]

Over 200 former NHL players have joined together to sue the NHL over concussion issues, quite similar to the NFL’s suit. But does the NHL suit hold merit or is it just a money grab for former players? [Bleacher Report]

Thanks for reading and enjoy your thanksgiving!
