Buffalo Sabres - New Jersey Devils: Fan Chatter!

All right, Buffalo Sabres fans!

Last night, those of us who attended or watched the third installment of the grudge match between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs were treated to a great, exciting game.  The fact that the Sabres won in OT was just a part of the fun, because frankly, if the Sabres can compete that hard every single night from here on out, I won’t care if they don’t win another game.  (Sort of.)  Compete and be competitive, and let the chips fall where they may – it’s all I ask, Buffalo fans!

Having said that, I would love to see the Sabres be able to build off of last night’s success and give their confidence a boost by notching their second win in as many nights against the New Jersey Devils.  Last season, every single one of the three contests between these two teams required a shootout to decide a winner, with New Jersey winning two out of three.  New Jersey killed the Sabres with their aggressive forechecking last year, keeping the puck down at Buffalo’s end of the ice for stretches of time that resembled hours, not minutes.  Yeah, it was pretty painful to watch at times, but at least the games were close, which is what I’m looking for again tonight.

Questions to consider:

1. Matt Moulson has scored in consecutive games – can he get the hat trick of sorts tonight?

2. Ville Leino has been playing great hockey under Ted Nolan – the man deserves a goal?  What are the odds he gets one tonight?

3. Who scores first for the Sabres?

Answer these questions, or completely ignore them and freestyle – I don’t care!  Just join the conversation and have some fun with us!  Go Sabres!!!

I’m feeling so optimistic it’s actually kind of stupid! Nailing my pick last night was the worst thing to happen to my ego!

    1. YES, Moulson scores for the third straight game.
    2. Leino’s odds are 2-1; I feel good he bangs one home tonight.
    3. D’Agostini scores first for Buffalo.

Sabres win, 4-2. No, I’m not on drugs!

Well done with last night’s pick.

      • Richard Spalding

Thanks. Pure luck, though that won’t stop me from bragging!

And see where it gets me tonight? These teams need to combine for six goals in 20 minutes – ba ha ha ha ha!

        • JHizzle75

          5 for me. Lol

  • Timothy Redinger

I agree Rich DiAgostini played hard, and I think that will carry over from last night. Lots of emotion in the locker room and on the bench now is spilling onto the ice. Think we have a 3-2 game in a shootout.

    1) No goal for Moulson tonight

    2) Leino gets a primary assist, no goal though.

    3) Tyler Ennis opens up the scoring for the Sabres

Sabres win 4-1 and I have plenty of stars to pick when I write the 3 stars of the game later. If NJ wins I am selecting Jaromir Jagr for all 3 stars because he is 41 and still crushing it!

    • Jes

Jagr is friggin awesome. I’d love it if he would’ve signed with the Sabes in the summer.

      • Mark Huss

Sabres only pay $$$$ to players who don’t score goals though, so he wouldn’t of fit the bill!

  • Jes

    Sabres win 5-1.

    1. Yes, Moulson will continue his goal scoring streak.
    2. Yes sir, Leino will get two goals tonight.
    3. I have a feeling Leino will get the first goal tonight.

Goals for D’Agostini, Adam and Moulson but Sabres fall 5-3

New Jersey plays smart hockey, unlike the goons in Toronto. Fortunately, Tallinder may have some insight as to how things will be set up. Ennis scores, Foligno, Adam, Girgensons and the young bunch get shut down by the wily veteran Devils. Leino adds a late goal, but by that point, Zajac’s two goals, with pots by defensemen are too much for the Sabres to overcome. 4-2 Devils. I hope the Sabres win, but I think the Devils play exactly the type of hockey that kills the Sabres inexperience.

  • wolfdoctor

3-2 NewJersey. Leino will score Buffalo’s first goal.

  • JHizzle75

Leino and Moulson score. Leino gets the first one. Sabres win 4-1

    • Richard Spalding

I hope you and Wolf are right about Leino!!!

      • JHizzle75

I’m hoping great minds think alike

  • JHizzle75

Classy move by Foligno. Recognized he was hurt and even held his head up. Who says there’s no honor in fighting ?

    • Richard Spalding

Agree 100%. He engaged, fought, but had no desire to kill the guy. He’ll probably get suspended by the NHL. :D

      • JHizzle75

        Ha ha ! No doubt
