This Day In Buffalo Sabres History: December 5

Just twenty days until Christmas, it seems like we were just getting ready for Thanksgiving.  Have you got all your Christmas shopping done and wrapped?  Is there still that special someone that you need a gift for?

As the festival of lights and the Christmas season takes hold – lets take a walk down memory lane.  December 5 has seen the Buffalo Sabres 16 times, with a franchise record of 9-5-2.

Craig Ramsay reappears in the history parade as he led the Buffalo Sabres to a victory over the Minnesota North Stars.  He scored three goals in a 3-1 victory.  Why was the hat trick notable in Sabres history?  It was the first ever natural hat trick for the young franchise.

The NHL must love analytics as to when the National Hockey League teams face off against one another, because the New York Rangers are one of the other 15 teams that the Sabres have played on this date (Minnesota being the 16th).

The last time the Buffalo Sabres had a game on December 5th was 2009 -in a typical Ryan Miller and Henrik Lundqvist duel.  Buffalo lost the game as both goalie faced at least 30 shots.  (Miller was 30/31 and Lundqvist was 36/37).

Can Buffalo get some December 5th revenge on the New York Rangers?
