This Day In Buffalo Sabres History: December 7

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

Just 18 days until Christmas.  Do you know where your shopping budget is?  18 days before Christmas, and the current edition of the Buffalo Sabres have goal scoring and winning at the top of their wish list to Santa Clause.

Will Christmas bring the answer and the much needed help – or are we looking at a New Year’s Resolution?

Today brings us the 20th game in Sabres history on December 7th.  So far the team is 5-10-4 – not a record the team has to be happy with.  The Buffalo Sabres take on the Montreal Canadiens tonight looking for their sixth win on this date in team history.

You don’t have to reach far back in the annals for important parts of Sabres history.  Adam Mair can probably recount and tell you the story of all 35 goals he scored in a Sabres sweater, but the one he scored on December 7th, 2002 gave the Buffalo Sabres the franchises 1200th win since its inception.  Mair’s goal was the game winner in a home contest in a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals.

A special day For Luke Adam as well.  Three years ago today the Boston Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2, but rookie Luke Adam scores his first NHL goal.
