This Day In Buffalo Sabres History: December 10

The Buffalo Sabres will play in their 18th game all time when they skate against the Ottawa Senators tonight.

Buffalo is 9-7-1 all time on this day.

It is probably safe to say, at least for many years, that the guys atop the franchise scoring lists have records and places that are relatively safe from being knocked off.

That holds true for Dave Andreychuk who ranks second all time on the Buffalo Sabres with 804 points.  Gilbert Perreault holds the most points for the Buffalo Sabres at 1,326.  The active leading Sabres point getter is Drew Stafford, with just 267 points.

In route to picking up those 804 points, on December 10, 1989 Dave Andreychuk notched a point in a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals.  That point marked the 500th point in his career with the Sabres, making him one of just nine members of the blue and gold who have reached the 500 point mark.

While the top point getters in history may be safe, those nine men in the 500 point club may not be adding another member to their list for a long time, depending on the development of new prospects in the system, and how long they can manage to stay with the Sabres.

Tune in tonight at 7PM as the Buffalo Sabres host the Ottawa Senators.
