Last week the Buffalo Sabres took three out of a possible six points. This week, the team has two home games, and an away game to try and win more than once. They start with a home game with the visiting Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins, before closing the week out with a Saturday evening contest with the Bruins as part of the third set of home and homes this season.
Tuesday December 17 Winnipeg Jets
The Buffalo Sabres continue to host visiting West coast teams. After entertaining the Calgary Flames, they now turn their attention to Manitoba’s finest in the Winnipeg Jets. This will be the first meeting between the two teams with the Winnipeg Jets as a member of the Western conference. The Jets should be the more tired of the two teams, as they come into Buffalo after having played in Dallas on Saturday and Columbus on Monday.
Thursday December 19 and Saturday December 21 vs Boston Bruins
The Sabres conclude their three game homestand with a contest against the Boston Bruins. Boston carries the same schedule as the Sabres do, they will host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, before squaring off in a home and home series with the division rival Buffalo Sabres . This will be meeting two and three of the five game season series. The Boston Bruins got the better of the Buffalo Sabres in the first game, winning 5-2. The Bruins will likely be without Shawn Thorton, recently suspended by the league for 15 games.
Both the Bruins and Thorton have refused to comment on anything more than the process as they consult with one another and Thorton’s NHLPA rep, as he will no doubt appeal his suspension.
Can the Buffalo Sabres win more than one game this week? The home and home with the Boston Bruins stands to be a very entertaining two games.
