This Day In Buffalo Sabres History December 19

The Buffalo Sabres have played 22 games on December 19th, and have an all time record of 11-7-4.  As the Buffalo Sabres gear up to take on the Boston Bruins tonight at the First Niagara Center, December 19th was a special day for two members of the blue and gold alumni.

In 1987, former player and head coach Lindy Ruff appeared in his 500th NHL game.  The Sabres took on the Montreal Canadiens and won, 2-1 in Montreal.  Ruff was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 32 overall in the 1979 draft, and ended his NHL career with a total of 691 NHL games played with Buffalo and the New York Rangers.

Dave Hannan only played for a few seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, five to be exact in a career that spanned 841 career games, two Stanley Cups and an Olympic silver medal.  On this date in 1993, Dave Hannan played in his 100th game as a member of the Buffalo Sabres.  Hannan recorded two assists in a 3-3 tie against Tampa Bay at Memorial Auditorium.

The current edition of the Buffalo Sabres have several guys approaching the 00 milestones,  John Scott and Mike Weber are approaching 200 NHL games played, two and six respectively.  Marcus Foligno is eight games away from palying in his 100th NHL game, and Tyler Myers is only ten games away from hitting the 300 game mark.
