All right, Mr. Leino!
Thanks for meeting with me. I know tonight is a big game – the rivalry between the Buffalo Sabres and the Boston Bruins guarantees that each and every one of your meetings will have importance – so I really appreciate the fact that you squeezed me into your schedule. And don’t worry about blowing me off yesterday – water under the bridge, as they say!
I’ve been discussing your, ah, situation with some of the readers over at Sabre Noise, and we pretty much all agree about these two things:
1. You are pressing a little bit too hard, looking for the perfect pass or the perfect scoring opportunity instead of relying on your instincts and training to simply ACT.
2. Once you score that first goal, the net is going to seem to be a little bit wider and a smidgen taller for the rest of the season.
Of course, notching your first goal of the season tonight will be a tough task, as these Bruins currently allow the second-fewest goals per contest in the NHL, surrendering a measly two goals per game. Of course, your team has been showing signs of life recently, and the Sabres’ four-goal outburst against Winnipeg proves you guys CAN generate some offense. Winning the battles along the boards will be critical tonight, but that’s actually one of your specialties, so maybe you’ll finally be rewarded for your hard work.
Of course, none of your efforts will matter if you don’t shoot the puck on goal, so try it! You might like it!
Okay – time for you to head out! Good luck – I’ll be watching and pulling for you tonight!
