Good afternoon, Buffalo Sabres fans.
I had to chance to speak with Ville Leino by phone today (totally untrue, btw), and I have to say, his feelings are hurt.
While he appreciates the efforts that some of us are putting forth – mostly myself and JHizzle75 – in an attempt to provide him with some support until he finally finds the back of the net, he was dismayed to see that 95 of our readers here at Sabre Noise would put Johan Larsson over him in the Sabres lineup. (Shhh – don’t tell him that both I and JHizzle75 voted for Larsson!) Larsson managed to pick up 86% of the vote in that poll, a result that really floored Mr. Leino, given the fact that Larsson has scored all of one point (on an assist, no less) in his 18 games of NHL experience.
It’s not surprising to see Ville be a little dejected, given popular opinion of him . . . but I dare say that is exactly the sort of motivation he needs right about now. Perhaps having a nice big chip on his shoulder will inspire him to be a little more aggressive when it comes to shooting the puck tonight. I’d like to see Mr. Leino get at least 5-6 shots on goal tonight, and I hope to see him plant himself in front of the net early and often, in order to pounce on some rebounds or deflect some shots into the net.
So, for those of you who voted that Larsson should pay over Leino, shame on you! And keep that sort of tough-loving up! Enjoy the game.
