After the Buffalo Sabres acquired Linus Omark from the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, Omark met the Sabres in Boston and prepared to make his debut. He made his Buffalo Sabres debut in last night’s 4-1 loss at the hands of the Boston Bruins.
Linus Omark wore number 17 and played mostly on the third line, he finished the night with just under 13 minutes of ice time, racking
up just 1 shot, was a -1 and had 2 penalty minutes. For the most part his debut was pretty uneventful, but he did come close to scoring his first goal as a Sabre, but just couldn’t find the handle.
But Ted Nolan wasn’t too impressed with the former Oiler.
“Eh, he has to be better” ~ Ted Nolan on Linus Omark’s debut
His hooking penalty did lead to a Bruins goal, but aside from the penalty and perhaps some “new team” jitters, Omark looked decent in his Debut. When looking at Omark one has to remember that he hasn’t played a stint of games in the NHL since the 2011-2012 season, he did suit up for one game in November as a member of the Edmonton Oilers but has mainly been playing in the AHL.
As the Sabres have learned with Luke Adam strong play in the AHL doesn’t always translate over to the NHL. It will take some time for Omark to create chemistry with his new teammates and line mates, but once he does he should start contributing to the offence as he looks to earn a new contract.
What did you guys think of Linus Omark’s first game with the Sabres? Does he fit into the offence well? Is he a Ted Nolan type of player? Does he have a future with the Sabres? Answer these questions in the comments and make sure you vote in the poll about Omark’s first game in blue and gold.
