All right, Buffalo Sabres fans: I gotta feeling. That tonight’s gonna be a good night. That tonight’s gonna be a good, good . . . .
Sorry. I hate that song, too.
Even so, I have to believe that tonight – New Year’s Eve, 2013- is going to be the night that Mr. Ville Leino scores his first goal of the season.
And because I believe in the power of positive thinking, I’m asking you to believe, too.
Part of me needs you to believe that Leino can score, simply so I won’t have to dance in my window later tonight. (Head here to see what I’m talking about, if you dare!) But my selfish needs aside, I just cannot fathom a world in which John Scott scores a goal before a hard working, hockey player with skill like Leino does.
(Of course, you could argue that Leino doesn’t have as much skill as I’m giving him credit for, since he has not scored a goal yet this season. Yeah, yeah.)
Whether you ACTUALLY believe Leino is going to score tonight doesn’t matter much to me; what does matter is that we all WISH he puts one in the back of the net. If every Buffalo Sabres fan watching or listening to the game tonight wills Leino to score a goal, well by golly, the universe works in mysterious ways, and it will happen.
So for those of you looking for a good cause to champion, a charity to support, don’t send your money overseas to pay for kids to eat for a few pennies a day. The money never gets there, and besides, they have no chance of scoring an NHL goal in their lifetime. (Please note: I’m joking! Those kids could probably score as many goals as John Scott could.) Make Ville Leino your charity. Collectively, we can do this.
Happy New Year’s, and go Ville!
