On the eighth day of Christmas the Buffalo Sabres need – well, today we are going with Eight Playoff Games. Why? Well because it means that you
have won at least one series, if it in fact the first series went seven games.
While the Buffalo Bills playoff drought remains at a lifetime of suffering for anyone born since the year 2000, the Buffalo Sabres have struggled in recent years to get out of the first round, if they make the playoffs at all. The last time they won a playoff round was the back to back conference finals appearances in 2005-2007.
Eight playoff games means that they made it out of the second round. Eight playoff wins means you have made it to the conference finals again. Eight playoff home games, well – you get my point.
Changing the culture in the locker room is well underway, but is not the only thing that is going to make the Buffalo Sabres consistent and successful players in the free agency pool. Hang a few rafters in the banner at First Niagara Center consistently – and more players around the league will take notice that you trying to make it with the big teams.
Sure just getting into the playoffs doesn’t guarantee you a banner raising – but making it known that you are going to win when the season is on the line, will go a long way in adding to the current banners adorning the arena.
Eight days down, and just four to go. What lies in store for the Buffalo Sabres as we approach the end of the Christmas season?
