Buffalo Sabres @ Minnesota Wild: Fan Chatter!

All right, Buffalo Sabres fans!

It’s a new year . . . which might excite me a little bit more, except for the fact that we’re NOT going to see much of a new team take the ice tonight when the Sabres take on the Minnesota Wild.

Sure, Brayden McNabb and Johan Larsson have been called back up to Buffalo, and you all should know how I feel about Larsson, so yeah, I’m happy to hear that news.  But, for the most part, this is still the team that got bullied and shutout in Winnipeg 3-0 on New Year’s Eve, so I’m not filled with much new year optimism.

The one good thing to take away from Tuesday night’s beat-down to the Jets was that the Sabres’ fourth line was gangbusters all night long.  I notice none of you predicted that Matt Ellis, John Scott, and Matt D’Agostini would be my three stars the other night, so in your face!    of course, I didn’t pick them either, but that’s not the point!  The point is they were the hardest-working line that created some of the best scoring opportunities of the night.  If that is the case again tonight, the Sabres are in trouble, so step it up, lines 1-3!

Questions to consider:

1. How badly does Jason Pominville burn his old team?  He only scored the game winner against the Sabres the last time these two teams squared off against one another, you know.

2. Steve Ott leads all Buffalo players with 15 (7-8) points against Minnesota.  How many point will he tally tonight?

3. Predict tonight’s three stars!

Jump on in and get the chatter started!

*By the way: yes, I did go through with my bet that I would dance in my underwear at midnight should Ville Leino fail to score the other night.  (Believe it or not, that’s not the first time that has happened in my house!)   However, as a teacher with an awful lot to lose by posting potentially inappropriate photos or videos of himself on the web, I regret to say you must simply take my word for it.  Would I lie to you, Sabre Noise readers?

Pominville gets a goal. Ott does not !
Girgs and Foligno score and Buffalo wins 2-1. Three stars: Miller , Girgs , Foligno
I will take your word, Rich. Not too sure about everyone else, though. Lol

I had the wife of one of the teacher aides in my building come up to me one day (she was a substitute) and say, “You’re the family that’s always dancing in your living room!” Fortunately, she was referring to times when we were all fully clothed . . . .

Lol. Do you know that for a fact?

          No, I guess I don’t . . . .

Minnesota wins 3-1. Moulson scores the lone goal, as the Sabres only get 18 shots on goal. And Pominville gets a goal and an assist.

Pominville will notch a point, Ott will get one as well, and Ryan Miller plays lights out with at least 40 saves. And yet, Buffalo will lose 2-1.

That 4th line is a beauty Rich. Scott’s a monster.

    2-1 Sabres Win

    1. Pominville will net the lone goal for the Wild
    2. Considering that Ott played most of his career in the West that stat isn`t really a telltale sign of things to come. However I say Ott tallies a point tonight
    3. I do not do 3 stars no more

    And we believe you Rich.
