Daily Dasherboard January 2, 2014

It is the start of a new year, and just two days in I feel like, well who are we kidding, I feel the exact same way I did on Tuesday.  I am looking

forward to the game tonight – as I would like the Sabres to have turned their backs on 2013 and the horrible hockey that was played in that year.  It is tough though – I want the Sabres to be more entertaining and relevant; but I also want them to have the best chance at the first overall pick in the draft, something they have only had twice in their history.

Here are your morning links on the Buffalo Sabres and the rest of the National Hockey League.

Buffalo staggers out of Winnipeg, and again the play of Jhonas Enroth has you wondering if he can be the guy after Ryan Miller.  [Buffalo News].

It’s not all his fault though – the Buffalo Sabres are a different team in front of Enroth than they are in front of Miller, and the goal scoring stats support that.  [WGR550].

The Buffalo Sabres need a new General Manager now.  Or maybe Pat Lafontaine just needs to realize that he can do the job and just stop wasting time of potential candidates.  Or the choice has been made but nothing will be said while the guy is under contract with another team, and won’t join the Sabres till the off season.  [Rant Sports].
