Buffalo Sabres Three Stars vs New Jersey Devils

There is not a whole lot you can say about a hockey game between the Buffalo Sabres who can’t score goals – and the New Jersey Devils, a team

that waits patiently and only needs to score one goal to win their hockey games.  Makes you wonder why the league lets that happen when exciting games like the Winter Classic get such high ratings.  Butt the Buffalo Sabres were able to double the New Jersey Devils tonight in front of Ryan Miller

I guess the best part of playing the Devils is your plus/minus can’t get much more worse than it already is, especially when it was all special teams getting the goal scoring done.  So on a game like tonight, here are the three stars for the Sabres, on a low shot night that saw the Buffalo Sabres beat the New Jersey Devils 2-1 for their first win in 2014.

Third Star – Matt Moulson gets the Buffalo Sabres on the board first with his team leading eighth (tied) goal of the season.  While trade rumors will surround Moulson as the deadline approaches – he continues to lead this team offensively.

Second Star – Ryan Miller gets the second star here.  Can’t really blame him for the New Jersey Devils goal – it was a five on three situation and he wasn’t getting a whole ton of support from the three guys in front of him.  While he only faced 22 shots – low for his work load this season, he still kept the Sabres in the game and came up big when the Devils came in with a short handed 2-0 – and Ryan Miller came up big to keep the Sabres in the game.

First Star – Matt  D’Agostini gets the first star honors tonight  by punching in the game winning goal for the Sabres in the third period.  This was D’Agostini’s first goal as a member of the Buffalo Sabres and first goal of the season for him.  It is his 48th goal of his career.
