The Buffalo Sabres begin a full schedule of games this week as they start with three games in four nights before closing out with a Saturday night contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Sunday January 12 @ Washington Capitals
Washington comes into Buffalo chasing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metro division as the teams meet for the second of three times this year. Buffalo held Alex Ovechkin the league’s leading scorer to twelve shots, but Ryan Miller stopped them all in route to a career high 49 save night as the Sabres held on for a shootout win.
The last time these two teams met was a late afternoon Sunday game – so the Buffalo Sabres have to be hoping they can repeat their afternoon magic by facing off against the Capitals today at 3PM.
Tuesday January 14 vs Philadelphia Flyers
Buffalo has seen this foe once so far this year as well, dropping a 4-1 decision before Thanksgiving. It is always a good contest with bad blood between these two organizations, which is something I like to see because I have an infinite hatred for the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers were doubled up by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, and play the New York Rangers before both the Sabres and Flyers have Monday off.
Wednesday January 15 @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Its a rivalry game against the Toronto Maple Leafs as the Buffalo Sabres are set to invade the Air Canada Centre. So far the games against the Leafs have been exciting, and have been ending in the favor of the Sabres. This will be the fifth and final meeting between the two organizations this year.
Saturday January 18 vs Columbus Blue Jackets
I will be downtown during this game – but not attending. I will be out with my wife seeing Wicked for her birthday at Shea’s. It is the second of three meetings between the two clubs, and the first one ended badly for the Sabres. As with Toronto – Columbus is outside the playoff picture looking in, but are in a position they could spark a run in the second half of the season – they are only two points out of a playoff spot.

Will the Buffalo Sabres offense wake up or remaining a sleeping giant this week? They are the only team remaining that does not have 100 goals for, and have a league worst goal differential of -45.
