Ironically enough, the Buffalo Sabres lost in a shootout to the Florida Panthers, but won in a shootout against the Washington Capitals. Not sure about you, but I think that should have been reversed. The Sabres now have two wins, and two losses in the New Year – which is a HUGE improvement from how they started the season.

Tomorrow night the Philadelphia Flyers will be in town and will take the ice against the Sabres at the First Niagara Center – should be an exciting game, they usually are between these two! Moving on to your daily links………….Happy Monday, by the way!

We get it, the Sabres are in last place, why would you want to WIN FREE TICKETS TO A GAME – all you have to do is send in a picture to show why you are the biggest fan, that isn’t too hard is it? New York Ranger fans figured it out and have 5 entries in the contest, while the Sabres are only represented twice, pretty sad. Here are all the details about the #IAmTheFan contest the FanSided NHL division is currently running until Thursday night!

Mikhail Grigorenko is officially on his way back to the QMJHL and specifically the Quebec Remparts. Another coach received the ax this season – yesterday it was announced that Claude Noel was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets had a replacement ready though, as they hired Paul Maurice to fill the vacancy right away. [Too Many Men On The Site]

We all know the Sabres are in last place, it has been beaten into our heads all season, so it is no shocker that when you look at NHL Power Rankings Buffalo is at #30. What is so great about this particular Power Rankings then…….check out where the Leafs are, hahahaha! [Bleacher Report]
