Buffalo Sabres - Philadelphia Flyers: Pick 'Em!

Game on, Buffalo Sabres fans!

Now that I have instituted a point system, game nights have become way more interesting.  Sure, I love to watch the Sabres play, but I also enjoy the thrill I get when I find myself scoring more points than, say, Jhizzle 75, because my picks were clearly spot-on, and his were . . . not so much!   Yes, I enjoy a healthy dose of competition, so let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work on tonight’s picks!

Tonight’s game is an interesting one, simply because both of these teams started the year in horrible fashion, but the Flyers have managed to turn things around, as opposed to the Sabres, who still, uh, are terrible.  But I mean that in a good way!

The Flyers have played their way into 7th place in the Eastern Conference, and they have a lot of late-game magic in them, having scored 45 third-period goals this year.  However, their offense is still only ranked 18th in the NHL, and they are about to run into a red-hot Ryan Miller, who has a save percentage of .950 over his last ten games, the best ten-game stretch of his career.

Interesting, indeed.  Let’s see what my questions to consider are for the match-up:

1. What will be the total number of goals scored tonight by the two teams combined?  (5 pts. for closest pick)  Sorry if that was redundant, but I want to make everyone knows what they are picking!

2. The home team has won the last six meetings between these two teams.  Keep that in mind as you pick tonight’s winner!  (3 pts.)

3. Ville Leino still has yet to score a damn goal!  How many points will he notch against his former team tonight?  (4 pts. for closest pick)

4. Who scores first -team (3 pts.) and player (6 pts.)

All right – let’s see who gets it done tonight!  So far, CC and Jes are tied with me at 1 win apiece.  Will someone else join us at the top tonight, or will one of us stretch our lead?   Go!
