Are you ready to pick, Buffalo Sabres fans?
I hope so, because as of today, we have a four-way tie atop the standings in our prediction competition. Fellow editor Caitlin Campbell tied with me during the very first fan pick competition, but since then, super fans Jes and wolfdoctor have secured victories, making we are all sitting on top of the mountain with one win apiece.
Will someone join us, or will one of us break free of the pack and take the lead outright?
Making this little competition even more exciting is the fact that the Sabres are facing the hated Toronto Maple Leafs for the fifth and final time this season tonight. So far, these two teams have already played four times, with the home team earning victory in each of the four contests thus far. That’s not the greatest news for the Sabres. The fact that Ryan Miller is in goal tonight, however – he of the .950 save ercentage over his last ten games – is good news, however, as is the fact that the Sabres finally got a road win for interim coach Ted Nolan this past Sunday via a 2-1 shootout victory in Washington against the Capitals.
Matt Moulson feasts on the Leafs, having scored 11 points (8-3) in his last seven games against them. The way the Sabres score goals – Ha ha! Get it? They don’t score goals! – Moulson is going to need to absolutely go off against Toronto in order to help the Sabres steal a win in the Air Canada Centre.
Questions to consider:
1.Pick up to four Sabres players who you believe will score. I’ll give you 5 pts. apiece for every one who finds the back of the net.
2. Who wins, and what is the final score? (3 pts. for picking winner; 5 pts. for closest to final combined score)
3. I’m setting the over/under at 6.5 goals. Will the combined score be under, or over, 6.5 goals tonight? (3 pts.)
All right – get your picks in, stop by during the game to see how everyone is doing, and then swing by as I tally the scores up at the end of the night!
