Buffalo Sabres - Columbus Blue Jackets: Fan Picks!

Buffalo Sabres fans, I’m about to rock your world.

Sorry – don’t mean to sound cocky, but I am currently tied with reader wolfdocter for first place in our friendly game picks competition, and tonight, I am going to break away from the pack and claim first all to my lonesome.

Yep: I’m feeling that good about the picks I’m cooking up.  Of course, I probably shouldn’t be; after all, this is the first match-up of the year between the Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets, so there is no real way for me to know how things are going to turn out.

Columbus is a team on the rise, having gone 7-3-0 over the course of their last ten games.  Getting forward Nathan Horton and goalie Sergei Bobrovsky back in the lineup has had a definite impact on this team, who would prefer to build upon last year’s playoff near-miss and actually make it to the postseason this time.

Meanwhile, the Sabres have showed signs of life on offense, having scored three goals in back-to-back games.  Of course, Buffalo lost both of those . . . but somehow went 3-2-1 in a six-game streak that saw them score two or less goals.  Hmm.  More offense is a BAD thing for these Sabres?

Let’s see what we got!

Question to consider:

1. I’ll set the over/under for tonight’s game at 5.5.  Will the combined score by under 5, or over?  4 pts. for picking the over/under.

2. CoHo has been on a nice little tear since returning from the IR, having notched five points in three games.  How many points for Hodgson tonight?  4 pts. for picking the number of points, but 10 points if you can nail HOW he gets those points.

3. Final score?  3 points for picking the winning team; 5 points for being the closest to the final combined score; 10 points if you nail the score perfectly.

4.What the heck: which team gets the most penalties tonight?  4 points!

Come on in – the water’s fine!  Jump in the pool and see who wins tonight!!
