The Buffalo Sabres grabbed another loser point tonight, dropping their game 4-3 in a shootout against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Tyler Myers that most Sabres fans have been waiting for seems to finally arrived. Myers has been playing like a beast recently, and he was clearly the star of tonight’s game. Not only did he open the scoring just seconds into the game, but he scored again in the dying seconds of the 3rd period to tie it up. He also nearly won the game in OT, and laid out some rugged hits on Nathan Horton and James Wisniewski.
Tyler Ennis also had a strong game. He was around the puck all night, and his energy and efforts resulted in 2 assists. He also muscled Brandon Dubinsky off a puck in the 3rd period. Ennis seemed to be everywhere on the ice all game long.
Cody Hodgson was mostly invisible until the later stages of the game. Hodgson fed the beautiful saucer pass to Myers that tied the game. He was also strong in the OT.
Mike Weber played a lousy game. Weber failed to clear a man out of Ryan Miller‘s crease on a power play, which resulted in a CBJ goal. He was also seen bobbling pucks throughout the game, and I am starting to doubt whether he has a future with this team.
Miller played a great game, which I think Sabres fans will find that they took for granted if he leaves Buffalo soon. Miller stopped 32 of 35 shots, and kept the Sabres in the game, including a highlight reel save on BJ Umberger.
Ville Leino continues his run towards becoming an amnesty buyout by the Sabres in the offseason. What a worthless free-agent pickup that he has turned out to be. Now that Drew Stafford has been playing a solid game under Ted Nolan, Leino has now become my most disliked Sabre.
