Buffalo Sabres – Florida Panthers: Fan Picks!

Afternoon, Buffalo Sabres fans!

I must admit: I am a humbled man today.  I went all Richard Sherman in my post Saturday for the Sabres-Blue Jackets game, and as a result I had the worst showing of the season when it came to my picks.

Meanwhile, Labbatt destroyed everyone with 26 points, beating the next-highest score by 8.  As we prepare for tonight’s picks, wolfdocter and I are still tied with two wins, while Labbatt joins Catlin and jes at one win apiece.

I hope to have standings, which will be arranged by points (with each nightly winner receiving a five point boost), sometime tomorrow.

Until then, let’s focus on tonight’s picks!

If you want an in-depth breakdown of the Florida Panthers, be sure to read my Behind Enemy Lines piece, which will be up later today.  For now, all you need to know is that the Sabres and Panthers are both pretty terrible, and have split the season series so far.   Only two of the last seven games between these squads have ended in regulation; four of the last seven have required a shootout, while one was finished in overtime.  I expect another close one tonight!

Questions to consider:

1. I’l set the over/under at 6.5 goals.  Is the combined score under, 6, or over?  +4 for picking this.

2. Tyler Ennis and Cody Hodgson are each riding four-game points streaks.  Which one gets more points tonight?   +3 for picking the player who tallies the most points; +4 for accurately predicting the number of points said player scores.  (In other words, if you pick CoHo and tell me he’ll get 3, you’ll win 7 points if he scores 3 and Ennis goes for less.)

3. Pick the winner and final score.  +3 for the winner, +5 for being closest to the final score.

4. Pick four players, from either team.  +10 if one of those players scores the first goal tonight.  +3 for each player who scores, period.

All right – let’s do this!

Okay: I’m going under 6.5. I feel CoHo gets 2 points, which will be more than Ennis. I say Buffalo wins 3-2, probably in a shootout. My four players are Cody Hodgson, Nick Bjugstad, Marcel Goc, and Zemgus Girgensons.

I think I might have won for the 2nd time, although you probably won’t recognize either one….; D

You won tonight! What other win are you talking about, whiny pants? :)

        • JHizzle75

There was a 3 way tie the other night. No whining here, just pointing out your JHizzle75 bias;)

          • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

Which game? The Columbus game went to Labbatt, so I know it’s not that one. I’ll go back and check!

          • JHizzle75

I think it was the Leafs game, not sure I just remember you making a joke about a 3 way….

You took a win away from me again, Rich! What did I ever do to you? Lol

          I gave you a corrected shout-out on Twitter! For millions, uh, thousands . . . maybe hundreds . . . to see!

    • Caitlin Campbell

do you get points times 2 for Stafford?

      • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

He and wolfdoctor get +10 because he scored first. No double-dipping; ten is enough, dammit!!!

        • Caitlin Campbell

what if I tell you by Moulson I meant Stafford ;)
oh by Under I meant over

      • JHizzle75

We should at least get 10+3 …right?

            Why is he shut out?

          • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

I gave him those points; I mean he got shut out of the goal scoring pick, even though he picked an extra guy!

    1.) Over
2.) 2-2 tie between Ennis and CoHo
    3.) final score 4-3 Florida.
4.) Ennis, Coho, Moulson and Brad Boyes.

Now I need to move to make it to FNC! ;)

    • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

      Glad you made it in!

    • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

+4 for over; +8 for picking winner and nailing the score = +12 on the evening!

      • Dano

        I checked right before I left so I had a few moments to ‘ make a prediction ‘. ;)

  • Caitlin Campbell

    Dang everyone who picked Stafford

  • Dano

First time ever playing and I finished with 12 points. :D

  • wolfdoctor

When you say “Final Score” what you’re really saying is total goals, correct?

    • http://SabreNoise.com/ Richard Spalding

Yes – I regret my wording, but gave everyone whose score added up to 7 the points.
