Buffalo Sabres - Florida Panthers: Fan Picks!

Afternoon, Buffalo Sabres fans!

I must admit: I am a humbled man today.  I went all Richard Sherman in my post Saturday for the Sabres-Blue Jackets game, and as a result I had the worst showing of the season when it came to my picks.

Meanwhile, Labbatt destroyed everyone with 26 points, beating the next-highest score by 8.  As we prepare for tonight’s picks, wolfdocter and I are still tied with two wins, while Labbatt joins Catlin and jes at one win apiece.

I hope to have standings, which will be arranged by points (with each nightly winner receiving a five point boost), sometime tomorrow.

Until then, let’s focus on tonight’s picks!

If you want an in-depth breakdown of the Florida Panthers, be sure to read my Behind Enemy Lines piece, which will be up later today.  For now, all you need to know is that the Sabres and Panthers are both pretty terrible, and have split the season series so far.   Only two of the last seven games between these squads have ended in regulation; four of the last seven have required a shootout, while one was finished in overtime.  I expect another close one tonight!

Questions to consider:

1. I’l set the over/under at 6.5 goals.  Is the combined score under, 6, or over?  +4 for picking this.

2. Tyler Ennis and Cody Hodgson are each riding four-game points streaks.  Which one gets more points tonight?   +3 for picking the player who tallies the most points; +4 for accurately predicting the number of points said player scores.  (In other words, if you pick CoHo and tell me he’ll get 3, you’ll win 7 points if he scores 3 and Ennis goes for less.)

3. Pick the winner and final score.  +3 for the winner, +5 for being closest to the final score.

4. Pick four players, from either team.  +10 if one of those players scores the first goal tonight.  +3 for each player who scores, period.

All right – let’s do this!
