Report: Buffalo Sabres to Trade Matt Moulson

It’s expected to be a very busy trade deadline for the rebuilding Buffalo Sabres who look to add pieces for their future, and today the second rumour regarding the club’s intentions came out. According to Bob McKenzine of TSN, the Buffalo Sabres will almost certainly trade Matt Moulson by the deadline.

McKenzie also said not to rule out Tim Murray’s former team as an option for Matt Moulson.

Acquiring Matt Moulson was one of the last moves Darcy Regier made before the axe fell on him, and it appears the new guy in town wants to

rid all memory of the former boss. Moulson was acquired when the Sabres sent Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders earlier this season, and while the Sabres had hopes of Moulson sticking around, however, if they can flip him for a nice prospect then it still could be considered a win.

In his 35 games since becoming a Sabre, Moulson has racked up 9 goals, 12 assists for 21 points that is good enough for the 3rd in Sabres scoring. Moulson has been playing primarily on the top line and has become the resident “sniper” and one of the few goal scorers the Sabres have.

Matt Moulson may be able to net the Buffalo Sabres the best return amongst their 3 upcoming free agents who are up for “sale” this season. Is letting their top line goal scorer go for the future worth it when he’s expressed interest in resigning?

What do you think of the Buffalo Sabres getting ready to get rid of Matt Moulson?
