Sabre Noise Fan Picks Special NHL Trade Rumors Edition!

Good morning, Sabre Noise readers, fans of the Buffalo Sabres, and people who just wandered in here to check out some of the newest NHL Trade Rumors!

With the NHL trade deadline of March 5, 3 p.m. Eastern, fast-approaching, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the players on the Sabres’ roster who are rumored to be generating interest from other NHL teams.  As everyone on planet Earth knows by now, the Buffalo Sabres are in full-blown rebuilding mode, and have plenty of moveable parts that could be traded in order to acquire good, young talent or draft picks that will allow the Sabres to draft, uh, good young talent!

Ryan Miller and Steve Ott have been the subject of trade rumors since before the season even began, due to the fact that both of these guys are set to become UFAs during the offseason.  Matt Moulson has not been in Buffalo the entire season, but ever since he arrived, he, too, has been the subject of much discussion.

Lately, though, a few new names have entered the fray, such as defensemen Christian Ehrhoff and Tyer Myers.  These names interest me, not because I want to see them go, but because neither of these players would be considered rentals, as both have years left on their contracts.  The Sabres have a far better chance of getting some tangible rewards by trading a player like Ehrhoff or Myers than a temporary rental like Miller, Moulson or Ott.

But why stop there?  Could Drew Satfford be wrapped up and sent somewhere as part of a package deal?  What about Henrik Tallinder?  So many choices!

Just for fun, I would love to hear your predictions on which payers on the Sabres roster get traded, and to where.  If you are part of our game day Fan Picks competition (or if you’re not, but want to start!)  I will add in totals for your picks regarding these trade rumors to our current standings.   Name the players you believe will wind up being traded.  I’ll give you 5 points if that player does get traded before the trade deadline, and another 5 points if you accurately predict where that player winds up.  Furthermore, I’ll give you an extra 10 points if you predict the FIRST Sabres player to get traded, and I’ll throw in 20 points if you accurately guess one of the players who wind up getting shipped to Buffalo as a part of any trade activity the Sabres engage in!

Whew!

Don’t worry – if you don’t care about the points, just join the conversation so we can debate who is going where, why, and for whom!
