All things considered, with what happened this weekend I almost forget it was the end of the month and time to honor the three stars for the month of February. Just as a reminder, because we only started this last month – we keep track of all the three stars posts after the game, and keep a running tally. This month, the play of Brian Flynn as earned him third star honors.
An undrafted free agent for the Buffalo Sabres, he appeared in 26 games for the team last year in the shortened season and scored 11 points (6+5). It was only a matter of time that the team would call on his services. This year he has been a steady player for the Sabres. February saw little on the score sheet for Flynn. He had two goals and an assist in the final days of the month.
Consistently seeing 14 or more minutes of ice time – and only one game was he below fifty percent on his faceoff percentage.
There are few bright spots on the roster this season but after paying his dues and developing into a solid roster player the way he has, it should be no surprise if Brian Flynn ends up a resident on the third or fourth line for the Buffalo Sabres long term.
I for one, am looking forward to seeing more of what Brian Flynn can bring to the table and how all things go down with him in the future. If this tweet from Bill Hoppe is correct, then Flynn getting better is only going to help the Sabres.
Brian Flynn might be having his best game this season.
