Buffalo Sabres Daily Dasherboard March 12, 2014

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.  I was going to start out with a joke about the Buffalo Sabres winning the Stanley Cup in the near future, but at some point today I think hell will really be freezing over.  So I didn’t think the punch line was that funny.

Ted Nolan was brought in as the interim head coach of the Buffalo Sabres and is in talks with the team about a contract extension, because he can motivate any group of players and get them to put out a solid effort.  But effort does always equate success.  [Rant Sports].

Cory Conacher gave up his number 89 because he didn’t want to wear the great Alexander Mogilny’s number.  But he wouldn’t don number 88 until he checked with Patrick Kane either.  [CBS Sports].

Speaking of which, Mogilny was inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame in 2011.  Shouldn’t 89 be in the rafters as well?  I am thinking next year the Sabres honor 39 and 89 on different nights next year.  Why not right?

It was a tense trade deadline day for this Buffalo Sabres – will next years deadline day go down the same way? [Olean Time Herald].

Ryan Miller got his first loss  in St. Louis, but the Blues remain in first place and his point streak is alive.  [Missouri Net].

The Nashville Predators come back to thump the Buffalo Sabres in a battle of two last place teams in their division.  [Rochester D&C].

The Sabres have today off from game action before getting back to it on the road tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Islanders on Saturday.

ICYMI: Tim Murray talks with the crew at NHL Live.  Murray fan or night it’s worth the watch as the Buffalo Sabres rebuild their organization with fresh eyes and fresh legs.
