Carolina Hurricanes: Behind Enemy Lines

The Carolina Hurricanes host the Buffalo Sabres tonight as the two teams close their season series against one another.  Each team has a won one game in the series so far; who wins the rubber match?

Tonight’s Opponent: The Carolina Hurricanes

Record: 28-28-9, 65 pts.

Standings: Thirteenth in the Eastern Conference

Current Streak: Won one

The Hurricanes are a desperate team right now.  Having lost six out of the eight games they have played since the Olympic break, the ‘Canes now find themselves all the way down in 13th place in the East, a full 8 points behind the 8th-place Philadelphia Flyers.  Making things worse for Carolina is the fact that the team is about to about to play four of its next five games on the road, where Carolina is just 12-15-4 on the season, and has lost six out of its last seven.

Better take care of business at home tonight, Carolina!

The good news for the Hurricanes is that they have won their last three home games against the Buffalo Sabres.   Another bit of good news for the ‘Canes?  They play the Buffalo Sabres tonight.  That’s good news for pretty much EVERY team in the NHL, especially those who are desperate enough that they cannot look past the worst team in the NHL.

Look for the Hurricanes to come out with a laser-like focus tonight, as a loss will pretty much doom them to missing the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
