The Buffalo Sabres organization has seen quite the goaltending carousel this season. Since October, the team has seen four different goaltenders appear in a game, with an additional three dressing for the bench but never seeing ice time.

How did we get here?

Raise your hand if, at the beginning of the season, you pegged that at some point, Nathan Lieuwen would be the Sabres’ (potential) starting goaltender, with Matt Hackett as his backup.

Yeah – me neither. Never did I think that BOTH of the Rochester Americans goaltenders would be up with the Sabres this season at the same time. Then again, I also never thought of the day when Ryan Miller wouldn’t be our starter. It was something we’d all been used to for a long time, but times have changed, the carousel has spun, and here we are!

Let’s start at the beginning to see how exactly we got to where we are today.
