The injury bug struck quickly and often for the Buffalo Sabres over the past two weeks, however one member of the injury crew is set to return tomorrow night. With the return of defenceman Tyler Myers to the blue line, the Buffalo Sabres have sent defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen back down to Rochester to join the Amerks.
Myers has rejoined the Buffalo Sabres and will play in Montreal with the team tomorrow night after missing the last five games with an elbow injury. Ristolainen played in five games as an emergency call-up. He failed to register a point and finished with a +/-6 while averaging 20 minutes of ice a night.
This is a win-win for both Ristolainen who needs some more AHL time and the Amerks who have been hurt with recent call-ups and injuries to their blue line. Mark Pysyk has been out with an injury and Chad Ruhwedel has been with the Sabres. Ristolainen has 30 points with the Amerks this season and will play with the team tomorrow when they play the Toronto Marlies. With Pysyk close to return and Ristolainen on his way back, the Amerks blue line should get a much needed boost down the stretch.
Before injury Tyler Myers had 2 points in the last 5 games with a +/- rating of -2 in 23 minutes of ice. He will be in the line-up tomorrow against the Montreal Canadiens as the Sabres play their 4th of 5 games on their road trip over March Madness.
