Ville Leino: Will He Score?

As the Buffalo Sabres enter into their final 10 game stretch of the very tough 2013-2014 NHL season, the end is in sight for fans who have supported the team throughout. The Sabres are one step closer to the first overall draft pick and the future is looking bright. While this season has been a disappointment on many levels, the biggest disappointment has to be one Ville Leino who still sits goalless.

Leino has suited up for 51 games this season, has just 35 shots and has failed to notch a single goal as of yet. It hasn’t been a good season for Leino who has been benched multiple times and seen John Scott outscore him. With Ted Nolan letting his displeasure for Leino be known by benching him, the question becomes will Ville Leino pot a goal in his final 10 games with the Buffalo Sabres this season?

While he has failed to score this season Leino has put up 12 assists and him not scoring might benefit fans who take part in the Leino lottery by betting he won’t score.

In 130 games with the blue and gold, Leino has managed just 10 goals which has lead many to question whether or not the Buffalo Sabres should buy out the overpaid Ville Leino.

The flack Leino has taken this season doesn’t seem to be bothering him as much as one would expect, instead he’s blaming his teammates for not pick up his slack. Way to throw your team under the bus Leino, scoring a goal might do wonders.

With 10 games left the question remains, will Ville Leino score a goal this season? Also in the comments what are your thoughts on buying out Ville Leino? It seems like the right thing to do, but the Buffalo Sabres might need his massive contract to help them reach the cap floor next season.

Several times I have defended Leino as I thought he was kind of screwed up by injuries and shuffling between center and wing with different linemates. I believe that initially Leino tried to do too much and was expected by his coaches to do a lot. But what I think is most frustrating about Leino is that there are times when you see his talent and potential and then it disappears – and his confidence is shot. I think he just doesn’t care anymore. I keep asking the question – can the Sabres sell his contract to a European or KHL team? If not, then the time has come to just sever our ties. I dont’ see any reason to keep someone on the payroll to reach the cap floor – spend the money to get a UFA or two that wants to play and mentor our youth.

I keep seeing that we need his contract for the cap floor. Idc buy him out and overpay slmeone who can score at least ONE goal. Resign stewart long term or aomething and give him an inflated contract. Nething is better than leino

I think a even better ‘VOTE question’ you can ask is ‘Do you think Lieno will get injured (maybe intentionally…) in next ten games, to avoid a buyout.’ I am sorry but if I was Buffalo I would not play him in last 10 games so he does not have the right to say ‘NO, I’M HURT’ you can’t buy me out.
