For each round of the Stanley Cup playoffs I will publish a series preview with my predictions, and you are encouraged to leave your comments on each article picking the winners of each bracket. You get a bracket filled out correctly through the course of the posts, and I will send you a FanSided hoodie.
Here are the rules, it is very simple, you select and comment on each series preview with who you think will win the series. You can add as much opinion as you want, but all I want to know is what team you think will win and in how many games. You don’t necessarily need to get the game count correct to move on to the second round – but that will be used in the tie breaker.
I should preface this and say that there is, like every other year, sometimes no scientific fact behind my selection of these teams, as sometimes, I just don’t want to see a team win a series.
Stanley Cup Playoffs Round 1 Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars
Lindy Ruff has found his way back to the post season, although he had to change teams to do it. His work with the Dallas Stars could be ended before it actually begins, because his first post season opponent in the Western Conference is the red hot Anaheim Ducks.
Despite a slow period this year in which they were brought down to earth, the Anaheim Ducks appeared to be the only team in the league worth talking about, as they were setting the standards across the board. The Ducks are hoping to continue their success into the post season.
Despite holding the hot hand at the table all year – the for sure Ducks couldn’t finish the deal against the Stars all year. With three meetings between the clubs, Dallas walked away victors in two of the three contests. Will the season series transfer over to the post season? We all know Lindy Ruff has a way with players in the post season.
The NHL preview says the Stars can win the series if they use speed to their advantage and a relentless forecheck (mm…wonder where the Dallas Stars got that MO from).

For awhile I didn’t care what happened to Lindy Ruff after his departure from the Buffalo Sabres, because I felt that whatever the Buffalo Sabres did with the head coach position was worthy – of course the front office implosion that ensued almost brought back the passion and enigma of having that fan hatred burning deep in my soul. With that not only do I think the Ducks will succeed in this round, I hope they skate right over the Dallas Stars. I am looking for the Ducks to take this series in five games.
