The Rochester Americans announced Tuesday that the remainder of their first-round games against the Chicago Wolves will be televised for fans in Rochester and Buffalo.
The remaining two – or three, if a game five proves necessary – games will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel for fans in both markets to watch.
The Rochester Americans and Chicago Wolves each won one game in Rochester last week, with the Wolves taking Friday’s game in overtime before Rochester came out on top on Saturday. With things tied up as they stand right now, it’s guaranteed that the series will need at least four games to finish up the best-of-five.
Amerks defenseman Chad Ruhwedel leads the team with four points in two games in the series; he had a goal and assist in each of the games so far. Luke Adam and Joel Armia have two points each (1-1), while a number of players have one point each, including Jamie Tardif, who registered an assist in his first game returning from injury.
The Rochester Americans and Chicago Wolves will face off in game three tomorrow at 8 p.m. EST.
Game four of the series is set for 8:30 p.m. on Friday, while game five would take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. if necessary.
All three of the remaining games are to be held in Chicago, as this series holds a 2-3 format due in part to the distance between the two teams. The AHL has a policy in its best-of-five series to allow teams the option of using the 2-3 format to lighten the amount of the travel the teams have to do.
The television broadcasts of the road games will be produced by the Chicago Wolves, so you won’t be hearing Amerks announcers. Those interested in a radio broadcast can listen on WHAM 1180 – that will be an Amerks broadcast with Don Stevens and a pregame show hosted by Rob Sanderson.
In addition, the Rochester Americans announced Tuesday that the team is hosting official watch parties for the games on Thursday and Friday. Both parties will be held at the Mt. Hope location of The Distillery and will feature drawings for Amerks prizes, food and drink specials.
Those interested in attending can call ahead for reservations (585-271-4105).
