Buffalo Sabres Daily Dasherboard May 1, 2014

It’s May day!  May has finally come and while the weather feels more like fall, the second round of the playoffs are set to get underway and the Buffalo Sabres are in lock down mode as they develop their draft board and rebuilding strategy.  If you are in on the prediction thread from the first round, this is your chance to continue your streak.  Put your predictions to the second round below in the comment section.

Round 2 is here!  What a wild set of affairs that has Los Angeles moving into the second round after an epic four game sweep of the San Jose Sharks.  Minnesota was able to get through the Avalanche and the Rangers didn’t let their game six collapse affect their ability to move onto the second round.

Here are my picks for the second round.  Put your predictions below.

Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens - I can’t get behind the Boston Bruins no way, no how.  I am hoping for the best case scenario here for my sanity – with the Canadiens winning it in six games.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Rangers - It is another case of who I hate more – the Rangers or the Penguins.  I am really tired of hearing the “Sidney Crosby” and Pittsburgh model, and being from New York – I am going to go with the Rangers in six.

Minnesota Wild vs Chicago Blackhawks - I miss having a dynasty in the NHL. Sure it is no fun to watch the same team to win year in and year out, but at some point, someone has to beat the dynasty and get some supreme bragging rights.  I am almost pulling for Chicago in that regard.  I don’t think Minnesota has enough to combat the depth of the Blackhawks, so I am saying Blackhawks take this series in five.

Anaheim Ducks vs Los Angeles Kings – Don’t really care either way on this one.  I think Jonathan Quick has gotten himself into the zone and will be tough to beat, so I will go with the Kings in seven.
