Buffalo Sabres Daily Dasher: Drew Stafford, Darcy Regier,NHL Watergate

Good morning Buffalo Sabres fans.  Looks like a comfortable yet rainy spring day today.  A good day to curl up inside with a good book and enjoy the day.  Unless the weather breaks – then get out and do something.

Drew Stafford hasn’t lost his love for the spotlight – doing an interview with Concertfy this off season, and he thinks the Buffalo Sabres are headed in the right directions.  [Concertfy].

Drew – can we be headed in any other way than the right direction?  Don’t get me wrong, there are a limited number of things he could have said in this particular instance – but Stafford is busy out playing politician any chance he can get.  Maybe he really wants to stay in Buffalo and be apart of something special.

Drew Stafford no doubt in my mind is using this time to shine.  No longer does he have anyone’s shadow to play under.  It is his time.  He can be the leader, he can be the man.  Maybe that is what he has been waiting for all along?

Darcy Regier could be back in the National Hockey League by next season according to reports out of Phoenix. [Fox Sports].

It is not like I have any thing personal against him, I just didn’t want him to be the general manager of the Buffalo Sabres any longer than he already was.  And I really think that he has all the makings of a great assistant general manager – so long as he isn’t the main man in charge.

Henrik Lundqvist fined for squirting Sidney Crosby after Shawn Thornton was slapped with a fine for a water attack on P.K. Subban.  [USA Today].

The NHL is making good use of the face wash analogy this year.  At one time it meant nothing more than taking your gloved hand and smearing your opponents face.  Now the NHL has fined two guys for water attacks because they are taking it seriously.

Both guys recieved unsportsmanlike conduct penalties as well.  Really?  Were fining guys for squirting water now?  I get the Thornton one – he was on the bench and he interfered with the play.  Lundqvists was as he was skating off and after the period was over.  How do you know he wasn’t helping Crosby out?  With all the minutes Crosby logged Lundqvist was just trying to make sure the NHLs poster boy wasn’t over heating.
