Buffalo Sabres Daily: Television Ratings, Buffalo Bisons

Our passion does not wane.  Even when we have the worst place team in sports, the Buffalo Sabres fan base proves that enthusiasm is local, national, and year long.

The Buffalo market was the highest-rated market in the regular season for NBC and NBCSN’s national games; and the Buffalo Sabres games generated the second highest local cable rating in the league, second only to Pittsburgh.  [New York Times].

Fans want the Buffalo Sabres to turn it around, but it is difficult to fathom the Sabres seeing any necessary “rush” through the rebuild process given the fact that they are still drawing a crowd.  Certainly if things don’t pan out and the team doesn’t get better in the coming seasons, heads will roll and the popularity of the team will diminish, significantly.

This year people still had a viewing interest.  Ryan Miller was still on the team, and there was a national fervor on how he would play and where he could end up.

We also don’t give up on guys just because they don’t wear our sweater anymore.  The Buffalo Sabres were the highest out of market NHL city ratings wise to watch the double overtime game 2 between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.  We care who wins the Cup.  Dominic Moore is a former member of the organization, and for some innate reason I am getting excited over the Kings stomping a mud hole in the chest of the New York Rangers.

The Buffalo Bisons are getting new throwback threads!  [BlueBird Banter].

I knew good things would happen when the Buffalo Bisons and the Toronto Blue Jays affiliated up.  The Buffalo Bisons are getting new throwback uniforms that will be worn later this month that use the Buffalo Bisons color scheme with the original Toronto Blue Jays uniform style.

I can’t say that I am a huge fan of the baseball scene, but growing up I always thought the Jays had wicked cool uniforms, and I have been known on occasion to grace the seats at Coca-Cola field.  I think the uniform is sharp – and while it still says Buffalo Bisons, it also says Toronto Blue Jays.

I might just have to get tickets for a game at the ball park when they wear the throwbacks.
