As the NHL prepares to release its full 2014-2015 schedule this weekend, some NHL teams have already begun releasing their preseason schedules. Although the Buffalo Sabres have not officially released their full schedule – one of several teams to have not done so yet – we can piece together some of what the preseason schedule will look like, and it’ll kick off a little later than last year.
All of the dates listed below were pulled off the preseason schedules released by those teams. It’s uncertain at this point whether this will be the full preseason schedule for the Sabres or not; most teams appear to be playing between 7 and 8 games. The schedule we’ve pieced together at this point has the Sabres playing six times, including three times at home.
As it stands right now, the Buffalo Sabres will visit the Washington Capitals at 5 p.m. on September 21 to kick off the preseason for both squads.
The Sabres will then host a pair of preseason games, starting off with the Carolina Hurricanes visiting the First Niagara Center on Tuesday, September 23 at 7 p.m. The Toronto Maple Leafs will then be in town on Friday, September 26 for 7 p.m. matchup.
Two days later, the Sabres and Maple Leafs will meet again, this time in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre. They’ll face off at 7 p.m. on September 28.
The Sabres will then host the Capitals at 7 p.m. on October 1 before traveling to Carolina to face the Hurricanes at 7 p.m. on October 3.
It’s important to note that this may not be the complete preseason schedule for the Sabres. It’s entirely possible that the team could have a home-and-home set of games with another team who has yet to release its schedule, such as the Ottawa Senators. But we can rule out Boston, Montreal, New Jersey, Columbus or Philadelphia, as those teams released their preseason schedules already.
A finalized Sabres preseason schedule should be coming soon. Last season, the Sabres faced Columbus, Toronto, Carolina and Montreal in the preseason, which ran from September 15 through September 27.
