2014 NHL Draft: Buffalo Sabres Select Victor Olofsson

The Buffalo Sabres used their final selection in the 2014 NHL Draft to pick up Victor Olofsson with pick #181 overall.

Olofsson, 18, is a right winger who played with Modo Hockey Ornskoldsvik last season. He appeared in 11 games with Modo of the Swedish Elite League. He also had 53 points, including 32 goals and 21 assists, with the Swedish junior league.

Olofsson is a small forward, just 5-7, 157 pounds. He was not ranked by NHL Central Scouting heading into this year’s draft.

Barring any trades, the Sabres have now finished up all their picks in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Overall, the Sabres selected nine players in the 2014 NHL Draft. This inlcudes one defenseman, Brycen Martin, one goaltender, Jonas Johansson, and four centers.

The Sabres selected two players out of the WHL, two from the OHL, two high schoolers, one QMJHLers and two Swedish players in this year’s draft.

  • Buffalo selected Brendan Lemieux with pick #31.
  • The Sabres also selected Eric Cornel with pick #44….

  • At #61, the Sabres picked up Swedish netminder Jonas Johansson, who becomes the third Swedish goaltender in the Buffalo organization, along with Jhonas Enroth and Linus Ullmark.
  • In their second pick of the third round, the Sabres picked up defenseman Brycen Martin with pick #74.
  • After not having a pick in the fourth round, the Sabres selected Maxwell Willman with the first pick of the fifth round.
  • With pick #151, the Sabres selected Christopher Brown.
