Could Steve Ott end up playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs? [Tip of the Tower].

Ok, the thing that impressed me the  most about our newest defensive acquisition Josh Gorges – was that he nixed a trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but approved one to the Buffalo Sabres.

When he was asked why he didn’t approve the trade to Toronto, his reply was, that playing in Montreal for so long you develop a hatred for the Toronto Maple Leafs – and I just couldn’t go from the Habs to the Leafs.

  • Hopefully, despite any rumor contrary to this point, Steve Ott is taking note, because guess what Mr. Gorges, if you think you hated the Leafs before, welcome to Buffalo.

I can’t really believe that there are that many suitors out there for Steve Ott, that here we are on the third day of free agency and he hasn’t signed a contract.  Is it is age, his type of play, or is he just being that picky?   I think the longer the process goes for him, the more likely it is that we could see him back in a Buffalo Sabres sweater for the next season.

Brian Gionta happy to be with the Buffalo Sabres.  [NHL].

Players are always happy when they sign with the Buffalo Sabres.  Especially when its your last contract and you are from the land that is now called Hockey Heaven.  Let’s just up it still doesn’t continue that aging free agents are happy to sign a contract with the Buffalo Sabres to get one last go around the merry go round.

Terry Pegula hires investment banker – bid to buy Buffalo Bills closer? [Fox News].

Even if Terry Pegula doesn’t know anything about hockey, he sure as hell as hired some of the right people to get the Buffalo Sabres on track.  Time will only tell if the plans pays off.  We could be this jubilant over free agency when he bought the team if he had dethroned Darcy Regier then.

Could the same fortune be in store for the Buffalo Bills?

  • Elmira Jackals extend offers to four players.  [Star Gazette].

The Buffalo Sabres top ECHL affiliate extended offers to four players.  Offers went out to Neil Conway, Jordan Pietrus, Patch Alber, and Nick Tuzzolino.

New head coach Jaime Russell is excited about the core of players he is bringing into camp.  You have to wonder if part of his head coach training was with the Buffalo Sabres public relations department.  The words grit, skill, and passion were talked about a lot by Tim Murray, and now the Jackals head coach is using them as he lays the foundation for a championship culture in Elmira.

Terry Pegula must want Hockey Heaven to extend almost to route 11 – of course that means including Syracuse and Binghamton as well, which is why I say, almost.
