If you haven’t already marked your calendars for opening night for the Buffalo Sabres – your behind on the times. But it is also important to mark your calendars for the rest of the opening nights that occur throughout the Buffalo Sabres organization, to include the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and the Elmira Jackals of the East Coast Hockey League.
Buffalo Sabres Opening Dates
The Buffalo Sabres open up the 2014-2015 regular season on Thursday October 9th with a 7PM contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
This game also starts the home portion of their schedule and will be fans first chance to see the newest editions (and some welcome backs) added to the roster during the free agent period.
We most likely won’t see many prospects drafted this year, as we have some time for them to further develop with their respective junior teams.
The Buffalo Sabres open the road portion of their schedule against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday October 11th.
Rochester Americans Opening Night
If you are planning on taking any trips to Rochester this year to see the Amerks at the Blue Cross Arena – you will have plenty of chances.
The Rochester Americans will open the home portion of their schedule on Friday October 10th. The full AHL schedule will be released later this summer. Rochester has been guaranteed the following home dates on the schedule at this point:
• Friday, Oct. 10
• Friday, Nov. 7
• Friday, Nov. 28
• Friday, Dec. 26
• Wednesday, Dec. 31
• Friday, Jan. 9
• Friday, Feb. 13
• Friday, Mar. 13
Elmira Jackals Opening Night
Just a week later the Elmira Jackals start their 15th season in the ECHL with two home games against Kalamazoo. Opening night for the Jackals is on October 17, 2014.
The Jackals don’t hit the road until facing off against Reading on October 24th.
We will break down more of all three teams schedules as the summer progresses. The countdown to 2014-2015 hockey has officially begun.
