On the eve of the release of the AHL’s regular season schedule, the Rochester Americans announced a pair of preseason games to be held in early October. This year, the Rochester Americans will play a pair of games against the Toronto Marlies, AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The first of the two games will see the Toronto Marlies as the home team, hosting the Rochester Americans at Trisan Centre on October 3. Trisan Centre is located in Schomberg, Ontario, about 40 miles north of Ricoh Coliseum. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on that Friday.
Trisan Centre holds 1,000 people. Tickets for the game go on sale Tuesday and will cost fans $30 plus fees. That may seem like a steep price, but a ticket to the preseason game also includes a ticket to a regular season Marlies game at Ricoh Coliseum (date to be determined). This isn’t the first time the Marlies have played there, as they hosted the Syracuse Crunch in 2011.
Following the game in Schomberg, the two teams will travel back to Rochester — or Brighton, NY, to be more specific.
The Rochester Americans will host the Toronto Marlies at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex on Saturday, October 4 at 7:05 p.m. Bill Gray’s is located on the campus of Monroe Community College, roughly a 15-minute drive from the Blue Cross Arena.
Ticket information hasn’t been announced yet, but it seems likely that those tickets WILL be cheaper than the ones for the game in Schomberg. In years past, preseason tickets in Rochester went for roughly $5.
Last season, the Rochester Americans played both of their preseason games against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, with one at Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex and the other in Wilkes-Barre.
The full regular-season AHL schedule is expected to be released this morning at 11 a.m., pending approval from the Board of Governors.
