Buffalo Sabres Draft Lottery Odds: Oilers Pull Further Away

facebooktwitterreddit

The Buffalo Sabres have less and less to worry about when it comes to the Edmonton Oilers, who are now nine points ahead of the last-place Sabres.  This coming on the heels of their 4-0 shutout of the Dallas Stars.

Buffalo hits the ice again tonight to further protect their draft lottery interests against the Colorado Avalanche.  With Edmonton wasn’t the only movement in the bottom half of the standings, but the standings are largely the same from yesterday.

The NHL Draft Lottery is scheduled for April 18.  Our daily (mostly) look at the NHL Draft Lottery Simulator has brought a win for the Buffalo Sabres on just a handful of spins.  Today’s winner, the San Jose Sharks.  Holding that last place spot ensures the Buffalo Sabres will at least walk away with Jack Eichel.

There are a lot of hockey games on the schedule tonight, with the Buffalo Sabres and Colorado Avalanche being just one of 13 games on the schedule tonight.

Nashville Predators @ Washington Capitals

Today’s hockey action gets started at noon today with a matchup of playoff hopefuls.  After hitting a road block, the Predators have risen back up to the top of the Central Division, and are once again challenging for the top spot in the league.  Washington is playing the wild card race now.

New York Rangers @ Boston Bruins

The Rangers have clinched a playoff spot, and the Boston Bruins are on the outside looking in, but still have a chance at getting in.

Anaheim Ducks @ New York Islanders

Potential Stanley Cup Championship matchup in the making?  Anaheim is still punching forward in their quest to earn their first Presidents Trophy, while the Islanders are comfortable in their playoff race.

San Jose Sharks @ Philadelphia Flyers

San Jose is looking at getting back in the playoff picture, while the Flyers are barely holding on.

Arizona Coyotes @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Scoreboard watching continues tonight.  Losing to the Coyotes on Thursday was helpful, but does not put us in the clear for last place.  Adding to the gap would be helpful.

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Detroit Red Wings

Beasts of the East meet ahead of the playoffs.  It is just the regular season, but do either of these teams have what it takes to emerge as a top team in the East come playoff time?

Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Ottawa’s streak has come to an end, but they are still in the playoff picture, a perfect rebound game for them because the Maple Leafs haven’t won a game in 7 tries and are 1-8-1 in their last ten games.

Florida Panthers @ Montreal Canadiens

Don’t sleep on the Florida Panthers just yet.  Montreal playing with the hopes of continuing to sit atop their division.

New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes

Jockeying for draft lottery positions is all that happens here.

Columbus Blue Jackets @ St. Louis Blues

St. Louis can still catch Nashville to win the division.

Los Angeles Kings @ Minnesota Wild

Los Angeles has the fewest number of points in the Western Conference but are in the playoffs, but only have a one point lead on the Calgary Flames who are on the outside looking in.

Buffalo Sabres @ Colorado Avalanche

Time is short for the Colorado Avalanche, but its not out of the realm of possibility for them to make a push.

Dallas Stars @ Vancouver Canucks

Time is running short of the Stars and the Buffalo Sabres chances of getting a second round draft pick instead of a third round draft pick.
