In the end, the Buffalo Sabres captured 16 of a possible 30 points in the month of March, going 7-4-2-2.

Th Sabres are now 32-35-11 on the season with 75 points.

Not the best team in the league (that’d be Washington, with a whopping 114 points), but also — not the worst. (That would be Edmonton, with 67).

So, let’s breakdown just how the Buffalo Sabres did in the month of March, shall we?

The Buffalo Sabres played nine of 15 games in March at First Niagara Center. That kicked off with a three-game homestand to start the month, wherein Edmonton, Calgary and Minnesota visited Buffalo.

The Buffalo Sabres lost two of those games, picking up four of a possible six points.

They fell to the Oilers in overtime by a score of 2-1, a game in which – of course! – Connor McDavid had both of Edmonton’s goals.

Of course he did.

The Sabres rebounded from that with a commanding 6-3 win over the Calgary Flames, then capped off the homestand with a shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild.

After that came another win, a 4-3 victory over the Leafs in shootout.

But just when the Sabres might have been getting hot, they went on to lose two games in a row, to the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens.

That seems to have been the general theme through the month of March for the Buffalo Sabres: hot, cold, hot, cold.

They beat the Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime, but then dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Habs.

They beat the Senators 3-1, but then fell 4-1 to the Leafs.

The Buffalo Sabres finally won two straight, with victories over Carolina and Winnipeg – both 3-2 wins – but followed those up with a pair of losses to Detroit and Pittsburgh (shootout).

The Buffalo Sabres ended the month with a 4-1 win over Toronto on Thursday.

At the end of the month, Ryan O’Reilly leads the Buffalo Sabres with 56 points, including a team-high 38 assists.

Jack Eichel leads the team with 23 goals, while Sam Reinhart has 22. Evander Kane also has 20 goals.

The month of March saw the Buffalo Sabres add two new players to their NHL roster: Hudson Fasching and Casey Nelson.

To date, Fasching has registered on goal and five shots in four NHL g ames. Nelson has four assists and three shots in four games.

But the Buffalo Sabres also lost two players to injury: Robin Lehner and Evander Kane, both of whom are shut down for the rest of the season.

Month was a hot-and-cold month for the Buffalo Sabres, and now… there isn’t much of the season left at all.
