Despite growing up as an avid fan of baseball and basketball, Rich developed an interest in the fast-paced sport of hockey while he was attending the University of New York at Buffalo. Kind of hard not to, when every night seems to be Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC. Now he loves to talk Sabres hockey with his son, who plays hockey in the Cortland, New York area.
