For goalie David Leggio, it was business as usual as he suited up to take the crease for his 50th game of the year. His 23 saves were not enough to keep Rochester in the game.

Mike Sislo opened the scoring for Albany just under six minutes into the game. It was another Mike who did the Amerks in, as Mike Hoeffel was the recipient of a bad play by Luke Adam – and the Rochester Americans were down 2-0 before they were able to get on the board.

Rochester would try to creep back in the game, making it 2-1 in the second period. Buffalo Sabres veteran Matt Ellis scored for the fourth straight game and gave the Amerks a chance at keeping the March point streak alive.

Mark Mancari gave the Rochester Americans another goal, extending his personal point streak to eight games, but only after Albany was able to convert one more time, this time from Phil DeSimone.

Rochester was almost able to take the game to extra time and get that point that they could have used in the standings, but Albany goalie Keith Kincaid stood tall and kept the valiant effort from crossing the goal line.

The Toronto Marlies now sit two points up on the Rochester Americans for the division lead, and have a game in hand.

There is no rest for the Amerks, who travel North to play the Marlies in a 5PM contest.

While we are just hours away from the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens facing off for a 2PM game, the Rochester Americans also skate tonight against the Syracuse Crunch.

After a big win last night over the Toronto Marlies, the Rochester American look to keep the ball rolling against their I-90 cross state rivals. The Amerks are on a four game winnin streak – and hope their successes against Syracuse brings that number to five.

This will be the sixth of ten meetings between these two clubs, and so far the Rochester Americans have won four of the five meetings with Syracuse.

If your looking to keep watching hockey after the Sabres game tonight, tonights game will should be broadcast on the Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (52 in Buffalo, 218 in Syracuse, and 98 in Rochester). Last nights feed was never broadcast in Buffalo as Niagara hockey was broadcast instead.

While they have won four in a row, the Rochester Americans are also winners of eight of their last eleven contests. While Rochester is trying to surge up the standings, Syracuse is holding close to the top of the conference, but only have three points in their last six games.

David Leggio is the only goalie in the American Hockey League with over 20 victories to his credit thi season. One would think that the Amerks would be higher in the standings given this stat, but like his starting counterpart in Buffalo – Leggio starts the bulk of the games for the Rochester Americans.

Bryan Flynn and Mark Mancari have taken over the scoring duties for the Rochester Americans in T.J. Brennans absence. Flynn leads the team with 15, and with his hat trick last night, Mancari is now second in goal scoring with 14, tying the mark Brennan had when he was called up to the Buffalo Sabres.

Mancari is tied with veteran captain Kevin Porter on the team leading 24 assists. Mancari leads the team with 38 points total.

The Amerks can expect to face Dustin Tokarski in net for the Crunch tonight – he has split the season series with Riku Helenius (Tokarski has three games, Helenius has two) – but Tokarski has the only win against the Rochester Americans.

Game time is 7:30 PM at the War Memorial in Syracuse.

If you missed the game last night, watch the offensive show now:
