Buffalo Sabres Daily Dasherboard: Buffalo Ties & Buffalo Wings

The Buffalo Sabres might be watching the Stanley Cup Finals from home, but there are a couple of players that have ties to the Sabres still playing hockey for the conference champions.  [Sports Media 101].

Dominic Moore is making himself more and more engrained in winning with the New York Rangers – and could end up being for the New York Rangers what Daniel Paille is for the Boston Bruins.

He didn’t appear in many games for the Buffalo Sabres, but has been very involved for the Rangers, scoring the lone goal in the conference finals championship game.

Out West, former Buffalo Sabres players exist, but one likely won’t get their name on the Stanley Cup.  Brayden McNabb was traded to the Kings this year, but is currently assigned to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.  A callup in the finals for the former Sabres defenseman.

Robyn Regehr is also assigned to the Los Angeles Kings Blue Line, however – he played in enough regular season games to get his name engraved for eternity.  Regehr has not played since the Anaheim series.

Buffalo is also featured heavily in a bet between the governors of New York and California.  If the Los Angeles Kings win in the Stanley Cup Finals Cumo has to send Anchor Bar Wings plus other state related products out West.  [WIVB].

Seriously are we still sending people Anchor Bar Wings?  I know they were the ones that “invented” the Buffalo Wing – but how many other places are soooooo much better in the wing department than them?

If your looking for variety and originality, sure head down to the Anchor Bar and give the wings a shot.  You won’t be disappointed if you are looking for a nostalgic look at the Buffalo Wing.  But you can go to any mom and pop pizzeria in WNY and get a better wing.  You can go to the original Duff’s on Sheridan Drive in Amherst and get a wing that looks like a meal for a Tyrannosaurus Rex compared to the pigeon wing sized wings at Anchor Bar.

It’s like wanting good pizza and settling for Pizza Hut or Papa John’s when there are so many decent places to get pizza in Buffalo.
