Less than 24 hours after the horn sounded on last night’s 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, the Buffalo Sabres are back in action tonight. The Sabres continue their California road trip with a visit to the Los Angeles Kings tonight. Since it’s another game in The Golden State, that means another late-night puck drop, as the teams will take the ice at 10:30 p.m.

Tonight’s game, as usual, can be seen on MSG in Buffalo. Buffalo Sabres fans in the area can catch the Tops Gamenight Pre-Game show beginning at 10 p.m. with game coverage following immediately after. Sabres fans in Southern Ontario can also watch the game on Bell TV, while local fans in the Los Angeles area will see the game on FS-West.

As per usual, WGR550 will have radio coverage of the game in the Buffalo area; the stream is also available online for out-of-market fans who are interested. The game is also available through NHL GameCenter Live.

The Buffalo Sabres will look to rebound after last night’s loss, while the Kings are looking for their fifth consecutive victory. Los Angeles is 4-1-1 on the season; the team currently sits tied for third in the Western Conference, while the Sabres sit with two points at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

The Kings haven’t played since Sunday, when they defeated the Minnesota Wild by a score of 2-1, while the Sabres are coming right off the heels of last night’s game in Anaheim. The team will have to be sharp and refreshed despite the lack of recovery time.

Tonight’s game will see the Buffalo Sabres suit up against a few familiar faces.

More from Sabres News

First and foremost, head coach Ted Nolan will lead the team against his son, Jordan Nolan. This is the first time the pair will face each other.

There’s also former Sabres defenseman Robyn Regehr, as well as former Sabres and Amerks blueliner Brayden McNabb.

McNabb is in his first season with his new team after being traded to LA by the Sabres in March; it will be his first time facing his former team. The 23-year-old will need to step up big time for the Kings and should have a spot on the NHL squad for the time being, especially with the recent suspension and events surrounding Slava Voynov.

After tonight, the Kings and Sabres will meet once more this season when LA comes to Buffalo on December 9.

Despite their dissimilar records, there are a few stats where the Kings and Sabres are relatively close. The Sabres have a better penalty kill (89.7%, to LA’s 86.4%). Both have allowed an average of between 36 and 37 shots against per game while managing between 23 and 25 shots-for.

The questions heading into tonight’s game: how will McNabb fare against his former club? How will the Nolans do in their first game against each other? Will Sam Reinhart get his first NHL point? Will the Sabres finally score their first power-play goal of the season?

The answers – and more – when the puck drops at 10:30 p.m. EST.
